In the middle 1950's, when John Rawls was an assistant professor in the Sage School of Philosophy at Cornell, he offered a course on Christian ethics. Rawls's handwritten lecture notes for the course are preserved in the Harvard University Archives. The background image of the running header on this site is an excerpt from Rawls's lecture on "The Kingdom of God", which has been lightened to improve the legibility of the superimposed text. At left is a reproduction of the page from which the excerpt is taken, appearing here through the kind permission of Harvard University. The page is filed in "John Rawls Papers. HUM 48 Box 8, Folder 5. Harvard University Archives."
